Suffolk County, NY - Police Benevolent Association going to court

BY RICK BRAND
NEWSDAY

"The Suffolk Police Benevolent Association will appear in State Supreme Court Thursday seeking a court order to block the Suffolk Conservative Party from ousting more than 2,000 police officers and their families who enrolled in the minor party last year.

The police union will seek a preliminary injunction from Justice Thomas Whelan, in a hearing in Riverhead.

The suit comes in the wake of hundreds of hearings that a Conservative Party committee has held in recent months to determine whether the newly enrolled Conservative voters agree with party principles or are part of an illegal party raiding scheme organized by the police union."
