Denver's Sheriff's Department is requesting $4.2 million from the City Council, primarily for salary increases born out of a collective bargaining agreement.
City Budget Director Ed Scholz said council members have known for months that the request was looming.
'That's something that's been anticipated the entire year because at the time we built the budget last summer, the sheriff's collective bargaining was in arbitration and we didn't know what the outcome was going to be,' he said Friday."
