The six candidates for two San Luis Obispo City Council seats are hearing people’s concerns about how binding arbitration for police officers will affect the city and public spending.

An arbitrator in July awarded raises of 30 percent to police officers and 37 percent to dispatchers, after compounding over the four-year contract. Following a raise in January 2009, officers at the top of the pay scale will make $102,000 annually before overtime."
